My family and I dined here back in March while my son and I attended Gary Con. VI. We had a great meal with Steaks, and seafood. Soup and salad were delicious, drinks were cold and strong. Ambiance was classy and old school, we had a nice view. This is a beautiful restaurant on a beautiful property.

This place is incredible. I went with a group of 8 of us for a weekend getaway during Memorial weekend, and stated at Grand Geneva resort. This place is inside of this resort, and by far has the best BRUNCH one could haver have or expect. It is buffet style so you pay a fix amount to get in, however, its all you can eat until you drop to the floor. I highly recommend going to this Chophouse for breakfast/bunch. I believe it was $40 per person, but the best part of about this brunch is it includes bottomless mimosas. Now I don't know about all of you, but it's very hard to find a place in general, let along in Lake Geneva which can provide that. The food was terrific. All types of eaters can come and enjoy everything they offer. They have plenty of sections and varieties for vegetarians, seafood loves, and of course all the carnivorous out there. They have great selection of prime ribs, grilled chicken, oyster bar, grab bar, etc. They also have a small buffet area for kids with Mac N cheese, chicken nudges, scrambled eggs, french fries, and so forth. One advise is make sure you leave room for dessert because every one desert topped the other off. The staff was very friendly, accommodating to our large group, and very attentive. We honestly stayed at that restaurant for over 3 hours and not once were we told we were too loud or we are no longer able to get up to get more food, or no longer allowed to be serviced the mimosas. We kept getting more food, and they kept supplying us with more drinks. :) Definitely a must if you are in the neighborhood.

Service was good four-star the food was very rich I didn't quite careful the call Amari it was loaded with garlic and other seasonings that don't agree with me it didn't mention them in the description If you're looking for premium liquor with your dinner you will need to order it from the Evolve bar . the lobby bar does not carry top shelf premium liquors

I decided to take my boyfriend to a nice brunch to celebrate our four-year anniversary. I was very excited about brunch after reading all about it online. It looked fabulous! We were seated right next to the window and got to watch the lovely fountains while we ate. It is a buffet with complimentary champagne/mimosas, which I was all about. We went up to eat and there was a huge selection! A carving station, omelet station, dessert bar, raw bar, etc. I started off with some raw stuff, eggs benedict, bacon, caprese salad, caesar salad, a waffle, a little bit of everything really. I visited the carving station and got some prime rib and I had some honey mustard chicken from the lunch side. Everything that was raw or supposed to be served cold was fine. Everything else was cold and not very good. I was really disappointed. The prime rib was seriously overcooked, there was no pink at all and it was very tough to chew. The same goes for the honey mustard chicken, it was very dry, bland, and tough. The waffles and eggs benedict were cold, bacon was cold, everything that was supposed to be served hot was cold. And we made reservations for 10am, right when brunch opens, so its not like the food had been sitting out for a long time (or maybe it had and that's why it was so cold). We were not the only ones who felt this way, the group of women sitting next to us complained to the server about their food being very cold. I didn't feel like complaining and starting a whole thing, I just paid for the outrageously overpriced meal and left. This experience only has three stars because the service was phenomenal. They brought us roses to the table for our anniversary, our glasses were never empty, and the plates were always removed from the table. I would not recommend brunch to anyone, unfortunately, unless they are willing to pay $60+ for salads, cheese, seafood, and fruit.

My wife and I have been going to Lake Geneva for a long time and discovered the Chop House about 8 years ago. We've had great experiences at this restaurant but have noticed the service and food decline over the years. It's very unfortunate as this is probably the only steak house, next to Anthony's in Lake Geneva that's worth going to. Last night, we and other couples had a meal the the Chop House. The service was horrible - the server never poured our wine or asked us for a new bottle when our old bottle was out...the appetizer plates remained empty and just sitting on our table for 20 minutes without the server picking them up...then I ordered a strip steak cooked medium and another person ordered a strip steak cooked medium rare and they mixed up our order - how tough is that...you're paying $50 for a steak and can't get this right....the desserts were bland and nothing special. Big disappointment...may not go back for a while.

Amazing brunch. The food was amazing, fresh made to order, and a chocolate fountain! My friends and I sat here for hours, enjoying the food, company, and ambiance. Customer service was outstanding.

Sub-par steakhouse. Nothing that would make me want to come back. The steaks were not cooked to request. And the "sauce" seemed more like red wine reduction instead of peppercorn as requested. Upon asking for actual peppercorn sauce, was told that said red wine reduction was actually peppercorn sauce. Not convinced. Servers were friendly but agin very sub par for an expensive night out.

Good food, ok service. We had 630 reservations here on a Saturday night for two anniversaries and a birthday. We got rose petals on our table which was a nice touch, but that's all. I thought maybe they'd throw in a dessert, but no. It took about 15 minutes to be seen by our waitress, we had to ask for her. She apologized for the delay and we moved on. We had read about other yelpers feeling snubbed since they wore jeans, but I saw a lot of people in jeans and didn't notice any snubbing as a result, but who knows. It would've been nice, however, to sit on the window given our special occasions (uh oh we wore jeans). We ordered the calamari and scallops, both were delicious melt in your mouth goodness. They served warm rolls with homemade butters like lavender and red pepper. We had ordered, for dinners: Prime Rib, Chilean Sea Bass, Filet and Steak tartare. Everyone was very pleased and finished most of their meals - meats were good quality, cooked well and the fish was buttery. Sides were Lobster Mac n Cheese, asparagus and bacon maple brussels sprouts - faves were Mac n Cheese and sprouts. We ordered dessert, but it was not memorable enough to mention. Service here was fine once we were noticed, however, you still have that small farm town feel and not big city polished. Price is steep. A couple drinks and dinner with apps and dessert will run you around 100.00 a person, and for that price I expect exceptional. This was good, but not exceptional. *Also to the restaurant - if we can afford that tab, it shouldn't matter what we wear. BAM!

Very nice service and an excellent meal at this semi-posh resort eatery. We split a 14oz steak (which was giant) and a trio of sides, creamed corn (doesn't sound good but was super tasty) grilled asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. Prices are hefty as one would expect, however the sides are large enough to share and there was no splitting weirdness. Service was just fantastic. Fun, no pressure, no problems with checks, (I love the Great Lakes). The restaurant is dark and dramatic, service was just right allowing a large group to enjoy a relaxed evening savoring a good meal together. Approved!

Came here for dinner, BF had the dry aged bone in strip and I had the seasonal Chilean sea bass. The food was cooked to perfection and the service was top notch. We also ordered the chop salad(yum!) to share as an appetizer. Also got the trio for sides which was just perfect to split for two. They were attentive but not over bearing. Only reason I would give it a 4 star is because the bread they serve was very hard and they could have chose a better quality bread at a place like this. Overall we plan on coming back on our next Geneva getaway.

My husband and I ate here in November during the week (off season) so we didn't need a reservation. We were ok with jeans and dressy tops. They didn't snub us as stated in some yelp reviews. They bring you little rolls with gourmet butter to start off with. We ordered filet, sea bass, green beans and a twice baked potato. The filet was ok- a bit over cooked and dry. The Chilean sea bass was delicious. If we come back we would both be ordering the bass. The sides are HUGE, you can split between 2-3 people. Overall for being in a hotel the food was pretty good.

I was at The Grand Geneva Resort for two day work retreat and while there, we went to both of their restaurants for dinner. Because we were a large group, we were offered options from a prix fixe menu at both places. The second night, we went to the Geneva Chop House. Overall, I had a better experience here. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived, and they split our group up in two tables. We started off with bread and flavor-infused butter and olive tapenade. It was not out of this world, but it did the trick while waiting for our main courses. I ordered the salmon--I don't remember what the other options were on the menu. But, it was fantastic. The sides-mashed potatoes, green beans, and spinach-were served family style, but they weren't very large. I thought there were two plates of everything being passed around, and I know I wasn't the only one who thought that, so I think some people were left without one of the sides. We ended the meal with a huge, decadent piece of cheesecake. It was ah-mazing!

Every other place that wants to serve brunch ever needs to come to the Geneva ChopHouse and see how it's done. This was extraordinary. Our endless mimosas were never empty, our server was delightful, and the food was excellent. Santa and Mrs. Claus were there at the time, and my son was thrilled. The selection was plentiful and delicious, with an omelet station, carving station, breakfast and savory options, and a stocked dessert bar with chocolate fountain. Holiday brunches at the ChopHouse are definitely going to become a family tradition.

Went last weekend on my husband's birthday. I had made a reservation and requested a nice table as it was his birthday. The hostess proceeded to seat us at the first table inside the door- one chair was literally hanging out into the entrance of the restaurant. We were very well dressed so this wasn't the problem... so I wonder why someone would seat you at one of the worst tables in the restaurant when others were available? We asked for a different table and she waved her hand saying "you can sit at any of those..." and sulkily gave us the menus. I'm perplexed why we weren't given a better table to start? However, once we were settled the service and food were excellent. Our waiter gave us great advice in choosing our meals- I had the salmon (excellent- very fresh and nicely prepared) and my husband had the filet mignon, also excellent. We were given a free dessert which was a delicious mousse cake with raspberry topping which was a nice touch for the bday. Before the meal they brought yummy warm rolls with 3 spreads, really tasty. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special meal.

Very solid steakhouse with a great view of the golf course. You will pay top dollar here but you will get high quality food and attentive service. I had the ribeye and calamari starter and it was $40 for the ribeye and $14 for the calamari. Rib eye was medium and cooked to perfection as the meat was juicy and melted in my mouth. I have had better calamari but hey we are in WI so they did pretty good. You can be very dressy or show up like we did in t-shirts and sandals. We did feel slightly out of place but they all made us feel welcome.

We ate brunch here after spending the night at the resort after a corporate holiday party. We ordered the wrap and a quesadilla appetizer. The wrap was big enough to feed 2 people, and the quesadilla was also big enough to feed 2 people even though it was an app, so we ended up taking the quesadilla home. The food overall was very good. The wrap was warm filled with chicken, veggies, and we requested for ranch instead of the spicy sauce. The sweet potato fries were cooked to perfection and were not greasy. The quesadilla was very cheesy, I honestly would have added a bit more chicken than the little amounts that were found inside. Overall it made good leftover lunch :) The service was friendly, and the food didn't come out too fast or too slow, which is good.

Salad was good, prime rib was just ok, not much taste. Another person had a filet, just ok,nothing special, neither were worth over $30 plus sides as everything is ala cart

My wife and I have been to Geneva Chophouse 3 times over our 6 years of being married, and each time, the service was absolutely exceptional! I'm a consistent fan of the ribeye steak, and my wife loves the New York strip steak. Our servers over the years, Darlene, Alisa and Jon were all so attentive, courteous and helpful, without being overbearing! In fact, we were there for our anniversary and they brought our roses, sprinkled rose pedals on the table and served sparkling grape juice for a toast! This may very well be an annual visit for us from here on out!

it took an hr to get food. Bad start!!! Glasses stayed empty, my prime rib was super tough, empty plates sat for 25 min before removed, green beans were raw..... I would never eat here again. If you liked this place then its one of 2 things. Your either lucky or a hillbilly.

This had to be one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. Me and my wife started off with oysters rockafeller which had to be the worst I have ever tasted the oysters were small and I'm pretty sure the person who was opening them didnt know what they were doing considering there was alot of shell pieces still in the shell. We put our orders in for our entrees along with the appetizer and being in the industry I might be alittle over dramic sometimes but our meal took 40 minutes to be brought to our table and I ordered there Bone-In Ny with blue cheese crust on top Med Rare well my steak came out well done and being sat next to there open kitchen they have I observed everything that was being done. My wife ordered the a Ribeye Medium and it came out Rare. We ordered sides. Lobster Mac and Cheese, Sweet Pototo and Double Bake Pototo. Well the best thing out of this whole meal was the Lobster Mac which was the only thing we ate because everything else looked like garbage. When the manager came to our table to speak to me and my wife because I sent back my steak and my sweet pototo I told her that I had a better meal at Outback and I was looked at like I was from another planet so I than figured out that there is no Outback in Wisconsin. I would recommod the chef to drive a hour to IL come to a Outback Steakhouse and take notes because I've had a better meal for a cheaper price.

I went there during the elevator symposium. We did not have a reservation so we had to wait in the bar next to the fire place. The food was fantastic. I had the 18oz new York strip and all I can say is wow! Awesome food. The veggies were fresh and crispy too. Well done.

Beautiful red rose petals on the white tablecloth was just the start to an outstanding anniversary dinner. The complementary champagne was special as we toasted to another year of wedded bliss. Warm dinner rolls were served and accompanied with blue-cheese butter, tomato pesto, salted butter and olive oil with cracked black pepper, as we browsed the dinner menu. We started out with an appetizer of shrimp cocktail, that was accompanied with deliciously spicy cocktail sauce and garnished with green onion, pepperoncini peppers and whole grain crackers. That was followed with clam chowder for her and a Chophouse salad for me. For dinner we each had the filet mignon and shared a trio of baked potato, lobster mac & cheese and marinated button mushrooms. The filets were cooked to perfection, with mushrooms and garnish., and accompanied with our choice of a delicious brandy peppercorn sauce on the side. We were pleasantly surprised with the complementary chocolate cake with raspberry preserves as dessert. Thank you for making our anniversary dinner so special!

Very average and inattentive service. The server highly recommended the crab cakes, they were mostly filling. The 46 dollar filet was mealy, abundantly average place. Service took too long, they were friendly enough however. Wouldn't go back

After a long day of meetings, it was a nice surprise to have such a great meal in a sweet and pleasant environment. My meal started off with a white wine because I knew I would be eating fish. The servers had an excellent knowledge of all wines available. Small little ciabatta rolls with a red pepper butter or olive spread was a nice way to hold my appetite. We started with calamari and scallops. The scallops were not amazing but the calamari had capers, lemons, red peppers and tomatoes...it was amazing. I ordered the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. The sides we ordered include asparagus, spinach, mushrooms and twice naked potatoes. All of which were excellent. We opted out of dessert because we were so full!!! service was amazing, food was excellent and to top it off, a final glass of wine on the patio by the gas fire pits overlooking the golf course and small lake was the icing on the cake!!!

My fiance and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and were blown away by how great absolutely everything tasted. The wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Their moscato was wonderfully light, crisp and refreshing. The bread comes out with three different types of butter - I was partial to the honey butter but my fiancé was more adventurous and tried and liked them all. We split the wedge salad which was so very good. We substituted the regular dressing that comes with it for their chop salad dressing and it was great! It was definitely enough to split. I had the filet and it was hands down the best I have ever had. It was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender. My fiancé had the pork chops which I sampled and I thought they were also very juicy and tender. We split a side of the asparagus in lemon butter which was very good - not too mushy not to hard. Next time though I would like to try the trio of sides as I wanted to try the green beans and a few other things as well. We told them we were celebrating our anniversary and they brought out a delicious little dessert cake to share on the house. It was like a chocolate cake with some sort of raspberry topping - very very good. This place is about as pricey as you would expect of a chop house inside a resort but I have to say I would definitely do it again. I left so full and happy!

It should be noted that my husband and I had just gotten married two days prior to our meal, and we were on our minimoon, but this place treated us like royalty. The food was very good, but the service was out of this world!! Prior to going here, we read a few negative reviews here on Yelp but I feel the need to change their reputation because of how special they made us feel. They knew it was our honeymoon so we arrived to a lakeview table decorated with fresh rose petals. Upon being seated, they offered us a glass of champagne to celebrate the occasion. I expected them to offer something like this but the evening just gets better and better, just wait ). We wanted to order a red wine so the waitress asked us what our taste in wine was and had a few recommendations in mind. We both got nervous for a second noticing the prices of some of the red wines and thought she might suggest an expensive one, but instead she came back with two delicious affordable red wines - we ordered a glass of each. We ordered the Dover Scallops for an appetizer (it was tasty but the sauce was just ok). I had the 12 oz. filet, and my husband had the Dry Aged Ribeye. For our sides, we decided on the trio of lobster mac n cheese, mushrooms and baked potato. Prior to ordering, the waitress picked up on me talking about how much I love the crust of a baked potato and I decided that the trio portion wasn't enough so she brought me an entire additional baked potato. It was delicious. When our steaks were served, my husband's was overcooked just slightly. It happens but the waitress could not have been more apologetic or accommodating in this instance. She offered to take my steak back and have it warm while his was being cooked so we could eat at the same time. They also told us his $48 steak would be complimentary. While we waited, the maitre'd came out with a giant plate of complimentary garlic shrimp for our inconvenience. We were so blown away, we didn't mind waiting a bit for them to recook the steak but they just kept bringing us complimentary items. To cap off the evening, they offered us dessert and when I couldn't decide between chocolate cake or cheesecake - the waitress decided she couldn't help but bring both (on the house!). They also served us another glass of red wine, tea and coffee and told us we could take our drinks with us throughout the hotel. When we were done with our cheesecake, they packed up our leftovers but instead gave us a brand new piece to go. We never felt so special, and they really went to great lengths to make our night special. They turned around our opinion of the restaurant and the entire Grand Geneva experience. The food was delicious (even reheated!) and while the two of us didn't have our cameras to take a picture to remember the evening, the waitress offered to take a photo on her phone and send it to us (and she did!) Thank you to Tina (our waitress) and Shane (the maitre'd) for making our night absolutely incredible!

The food here is fresh and good. But what I find truly amazing is this, they give you three types of spread for your bread. I'm a schmear type you see... A tomato based spread, normal butter, and a blue cheese butter. Three spreads and heaping portions too. But then they serve you the bread... Here we go. A guy comes up to you and drops one little roll on your plate. Whaaa?!? 'would you like some bread with that butter?' I guess they're trying to save some coin?

The Geneva Chop House is amazing. Great food, awesome service, beautiful views, nice staff, and a menu that has a very nice variety. The filet was so tender it melted in my mouth. The peach sorbet is something I would have never guessed could be so good! The staff went out of their way to help us celebrate our 10th anniversary. A rose given to us, and dessert for each of us with Happy Anniversary written across the plate in chocolate. Such a nice touch! Furthermore, the staff was very knowledgeable about gluten-free options, and were willing to modify almost any dish to make it gluten free. I did note that I needed a gluten free option in the reservation.

I got food poisoning from this restaurant. My husband and I went for our anniversary and I got the Tuna. It was terrible so I sent it back and they rushed the sea bass out for me instead. I thought it tasted a bit fishy but I wasn't about to send back another item. I spent the rest of the night very very sick and it ruined our anniversary outing since we were only there for one night. The hotel was great, but I would not recommend this restaurant nor would I ever eat there again.

We have dined here several times over the years for special occasions. It has always been wonderful! We decided to celebrate my 50th birthday with 10 friends from around the country during a weekend celebration. To start ; The bread and assorted spreads are very nice, but the amount they placed on the table was not enough for everyone to try. The server took our orders promptly and the bussers regularly filled water glasses. We ordered a variety of appetizers and some were good, some were disappointing. The soups were good, oysters were nothing special and the wedge salads were fine. We had some appetizers come out cold and had to ask for them to be taken away, only for them to be brought back the same. No one wants to eat scallops cold. Fish and steak entrees were good. Lobster Mac and cheese was also not hot, so we were disappointed with that. The most disappointing part of the evening was when they were supposed to bring a pre ordered chocolate cake, and instead brought a cherry vanilla cake, candles and all. When it was pointed out that this was not the cake that was ordered by the person who ordered it, they acted surprised and then said they must of given away that cake. No apologies, no attempt to fix it or make it right, nothing. What a hugely disappointing meal, with people that really did not care about quality of food or service.

It makes me sad that I have to give this place 3 stars, since I really enjoyed the overall experience. The ambiance was wonderful! Incredibly classy, low lighting, nice views of the surrounding area, etc. I felt a bit underdressed (something I usually try to avoid) but that's okay. The food, though? My family mostly ordered fish and people liked the seabass. I ordered an appetizer of tuna tartare. First, although it was nowhere near overwhelming, there was a bit of creaminess in the marinade, which I found strange. The worst part was how fishy it tasted! And we were near water...I don't get it. My steak was OK. I requested medium but it was a bit dry on the inside and charred on the oustide - AKA the reason I started to ask for medium instead of medium well in the first place. Ah well. The bread was good! No, really, that was important, since they gave three sorts of toppings (butter, blue cheese butter, sundried tomato spread). We had an excellent waitress, Dannielle, who was knowledgeable about all of the dishes and wines (the Iris Pinot Noir was a hit :). She was really sweet and stopped in to check on us at a good rate - not too intrusive but not absent. I don't know if this place is worth your money. I'd go with no, but it is a sophisticated option in the area, and it's fun to check out. I'd go back but maybe for a drink or a different appetizer.

Our waitress Kourtni was amazing. She knew the menu and presented it well. Our meal for two was NY Strip 14 oz, Prime Rib 14oz , Lemon Aspargus & her suggested Four Cheese twice-baked potatoes. I was impressed with meats however our a la carte sides were COLD. We kindly informed Kourtni and she brought out new "hot" sides. After two tries we gave up & tried to eat the sides. This made me lose my appetite. A $125 for two you EXPECT far better.

Also celebrated our anniversary dinner here, though we didn't get anything special, unlike the other poster below. Pros: The bread with 3 butters, chopped salad and creamed spinach were all quite tasty. They've got one of my husband's favorite reds there from J Vineyards. My husband also rated the filet as top 3, and he has been to the top steakhouses in a couple large metropolitan areas. Cocktail menu skewed sweet so I went with the Unami which is worth repeating again. We ate at a table outside which was lovely with the live music, heaters, picturesque view and large firepit, but it leads me to the cons... Cons: Below the deck of the restaurant is a larger open lounge area with ample seating and as a review below stated there were a number of children despite the 9:00 hour. The restaurant is also right next to their club/lounge Evolve so we could hear and feel the bass from "Billie Jean" playing, and there was also a bachelorette party that ambled over into the dining area of the restaurant so not entirely an intimate refined sort of setting depending on who shows up around you and how picky you are. My prime rib though ample size, it was mediocre, pretty chewy and actually on the verge of sending it back but I hate to complain, and the horseradish sauce that accompanied it was lacking a little bite. We brought the rest home to give to my dog though our waiter was kind enough to add extra rolls for turning into sliders. Overall we'd return again, highly recommend the filet and discourage the prime rib, and as long as you have understanding about the variety of people that are being entertained in this resort setting you'll enjoy yourself.

Delishus. Service was great and most of the food was amazing. The Caesar salad was lacking - not enough to deduct points. It was my girlfriend's birthday and the staff gave her a rose and at the end of the huge meal a delicious chocolate cake (her favorite). The lobster mac and cheese was amazing. The bone in ribeye was amazing. The green beans were done perfectly. The Béarnaise sauce was delish. My girlfriend's fillet was perfect. Overall a great experience. The quality and the price were great. I was pleasantly surprised and I will return!

Great desert... Terrible Bill. Flew in from Chicago last night to celebrate the girlfriends birthday, and the bill was $25. Ok fine no problem, I expected that. I get change for a $20, pay on credit. Check my statement this morning? $30 charge and a $140 charge. NEITHER of which is near the $25 original bill. I tipped in cash so there's no reason that the charge should be $30 much less $140. Desert was delicious, but not $170 delicious. Called them to complain and the response was "The checks have gone to accounting so I can't check on that now. I'll need your name and number and I'll call you back on Monday. Sometimes charges can appear and they'll disappear by the billing cycle" Yeah... I've had charges of a dollar appear but never something that was $140 and never something that was BLATANTLY wrong.

Hands down the best Sunday Brunch in town. Wonderful views and a great selection of food items. The big kicker is that all of the food is beyond good ! Highly recommend if you have a special occasion and want a real treat. Great waitstaff ....Very attentive to all of your needs....

So on our first night we went to dinner at the Chophouse. The trolley ride from Timber Ridge to the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa was fun. The restaurant was nice and upscale and all I was doing was praying that my boys would behave and not embarrass me. Ordered some kid friendly food for them that was a total disappointment. I was surprised how awful the penne pasta with marinara was. So bland. I had their take on the chopped salad and clam chowder and the salad was also flavorless. Something was missing...The clam chowder was great. Our server was attentive and friendly. I had the prime rib which was excellent with a baked potato.

This is a wonderful restaurant. The service is above average. Food was superior. Beautiful room with great views. We were a group of four spending over 2 hours just enjoying the experience. Highly recommend the Lobster mac-n-cheese! Everyone agreed the food was fantastic!

The staff here was great. We asked for a table by the window at 6pm on a Friday and they happily gave us one. Kurt, our server, upgraded our wine for free because someone had opened the wrong bottle. 5 stars for the service. The warm bread and variety of butters and spreads was a really nice touch. We ordered the lobster macaroni to share (the reviews are right... not much lobster but still delish). I ordered the filet and my date had the king crab legs. Both were really really good. We finished with key lime pie, also good. But then my date spent the rest of the night in bed with a really upset stomach. Who knows what caused that. I still give them 4 stars for the food. And 1 star for the ambience. See, the atmosphere was really nice... except for the screaming children. This resort is FULL of screaming children and you cannot go anywhere without getting run over by a herd of unaccompanied kids galloping down the halls. Even at the really expensive Chophouse we were seated next to a screaming baby on one side and a screaming toddler on the other. While I think the food is worth returning for, the misbehaving children totally ruin the atmosphere. If you're going to drop $100+ on a meal, go someplace where the ambience is as good as the food.

Ok, so our neighbors to the North *can* do a fantastic steak; perhaps not at your prototypical Wisconsin Supper Club, but who cares as the Geneva ChopHouse is all over it. Frankly there's really no reason to eat outside of the resort itself if you're staying at Grand Geneva...they have about seven different restaurants to choose from and range from basic cafe's and grills to more upscale places for food such as steak, seafood and Italian. We chose the Geneva ChopHouse as we just wanted some good ol' USDA Prime beef I went w. the 18 oz bone in Ribeye (on the menu? 9 times out of 10, i'll get it) and ordered it with Maitre'D butter. I seem to be running out of dazzling (or maybe not so much) superlatives, suffice to say it was absolutely great. Cooked to a perfect Med-Rare, nice and juicy and incredibly flavorful....paired w. a Cote du Rhone, it was a sinfully delicious dining experience. She went w. a Petit Filet and it was also quite good. We shared both the garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus but those were essentially an afterthought as the steak was the clear star of this show. Food, service and atmosphere all get a 4/5....this place could easily pass muster in Chicago, no question about it.

We spent the weekend at the Grand Geneva to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were looking forward to dining at the Geneva Chophouse. I had peeked at the menu online and I was drooling, just thinking about dinner that night. We arrived at the restaurant a little early, with the intention of picking up a cocktail in the bar before our 8 o'clock reservation. We didn't expect our table to be ready, so checked in (it wasn't ready) and we wandered over to the bar. About 20-25 minutes later, well past 8pm, we were still waiting at the bar, so my husband went to go check on our table. The THREE hostesses were at the stand, chit-chatting and giggling. Oh, yes, our table was ready, giggle-giggle. Not a single word of apology for the wait. A nit-picky point, but the menus they handed us were stained and a bit crumpled. Not a big deal at all and we probably wouldn't have noticed if it weren't for the lackadaisical attitude from the hostesses. Our server was marginally better. She was knowledgeable and friendly, but lacked sincerity and seemed rushed (although the restaurant didn't seem particularly busy). A nice touch they did have - she asked if we were celebrating anything. When we said that we were, she brought a single red rose to the table. The food was fair. The three different types of butter with the bread service was a nice touch - the blue cheese butter was particularly tasty. We started with the mushroom appetizer. Fair and flavorful, it was served lukewarm. Not sure if that was by design or slow service. We both had steak and shared two sides - the lobster mac and cheese and the green beans. Both were also fair. We both expected them to use a much stronger flavored cheese in the mac and cheese to contrast with the sweet lobster. The green beans were also tasty, but many of them were lacking that bright green color that you want in your produce. The steaks are very generously sized and they are good, but not spectacular. Dessert was a nice touch, our server brought us a sampler platter, "because *I* wanted to do something nice for you." The fact that the complimentary dessert was personalized in that way was nice. Until we heard her deliver the same line to the table next to us. But, we appreciated the sweets and they were the highlight of the meal. Would we go back? To the Grand Geneva, yes! To the Chophouse, probably not.

Absolutely top-notch excellence in terms of food and service. The rolling hills view is also exquisite. If you are not staying at the Grand Geneva but in another part of the area, be sure to book a reservation here at the Chop House. The surf and turf are both excellent and it will be well worth the trip. The Chop House Salad is both unique and excellent. I love the presenation, freshness, and unique flavor it presents. I had the grilled salmon over steamed spinach and it was wonderful. My husband had a NY strip steak with garlic mashed potatoes and was in heaven. High quality, just-shipped-in-from-Chicago flavor and service. Highly recommended.

Geneva Chop House was spectacular, most amazing meal I've had in a while and I live downtown Chicago. Everything I ate was phenomenal (even the bread & butter) Perfect oysters, very light calamari with great flavor. The salmon entree was the best I've ever tasted! The best thing about the restaurant was our server Carrie, so friendly and personable with excellent knowledge of the menu! Would come back to Geneva Chop House just for her. Thank you!

I recently visited the ChopHouse for brunch based on a recommendation from a friend. We stayed at the Resort and made reservations for brunch as part of a celebration for my sister's birthday. The staff was very customer service oriented and everyone we encountered at the Resort really seemed to be having a great time. Brunch at the ChopHouse was good. There was lamb and prime rib at the carving station as well as waffles, omelets made to order, a decent salad bar and a nice dessert bar. The chocolate fountain had pretzels, fresh strawberries, cantaloupe and other fruit for dipping. And, the mimosas never stopped coming. Overall, the food was good although I expected a little more on the flavor side based on my friend's recommendation. That being said, however, I would definitely return. This review wouldn't be complete without giving a special shout-out to Beth at the ChopHouse. Beth made our dining experience memorable and totally enjoyable.

We came here to celebrate my sister's birthday with the family, and enjoyed their Sunday champagne brunch which really had a little bit of everything from a waffle station to carved meats (there was prime rib and turkey the day that we were there), smoked fish, salads galore, the breakfast foods, fresh fish, shrimp, and some other hot lunch dishes, too. We had a beautiful view of the golf course and pond and service was super friendly. We're definitely looking forward to another trip back soon!

The Geneva ChopHouse is also on the grounds of the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa. As with the spa, it stands on its own as a nice place to visit, even if you aren't a guest of the resort. The experience was a highpoint of our visit to the resort - a date night with no kids along. The service was truly exquisite. We sat outside on the patio on a higher hill, overlooking a fabulous view of the lake and part of the golf course. The sunset was fabulous! Sadly, the Wisconsin state birds emerged just after sunset and began eating us, but they graciously moved us to a nice table indoors. The filet was the best I've ever had - very rich and flavorful and definitely tender. The menu overall is conservative but solid - my husband had lambchops also cooked to perfection. The grilled asparagus with orange and ginger butter was...yum. My eating habits haven't changed much since childhood, so I was excited at the three kinds of butter - blue cheese, sun-dried tomato or regular old regular. The wine list was also a little limited, but some reasonable selections. Despite it being a bit safe, I give it a high rating overall for the fabulous food, beautiful atmosphere inside and out, and great hospitality.

This place has a great Sunday Brunch. It includes crab legs (so-so), filet, prime rib, freshly made crab cakes, and a chocolate fountain. The champagne just keeps coming. A great view from the dining room and a very attentive staff make it worth the trip.

We stayed at the Grand Geneva over the 4th of July. The ChopHouse was okay, but one of our party ordered tuna and said it was pretty tough and a little bit gross. The rest of us ordered steak, and it was good. I thought my steak the night before (yes, steak two nights in a row, total indulgence) at the Italian place on the property was much better. Service was okay. Lobster mac and cheese was the best part of the night. In the eternally irritating words of Rachel Ray, YUMMO.

We go to the chop house about every 6 months and this review is from our most recent experience from 11/23/12. We were celebrating our 24th anniversay and had made reservations through OpenTable with the request of a window seat. 1] Table/Seating could have been better. We were not given a window seat even though several were available. We ended up in the middle of the back room close to a table with 6 young kids. Not very romantic but fortunetly they did not stay long. 2] They brought out a Champaign toast between the appetizers and the main course. IMHO the timing of this was off. I would have enjoyed it much better when we were first seated and before gin and tonics and wine. 3] The table was covered with rose petals and they brought my wife a single red rose which were both Nice Touchs! 4] The dessert plate had Happy Anniversary written in chocolate - another Nice Touch! 5] The waiter forgot an after dinner aperitif order but quickly brought it when reminded and did not charge for it. 6] The food has always been spectacular and this time was no exception. My wife's filet was done to her liking and my lamb chops were some of the best I've ever eaten. I usually go with the Prime Rib which is AWESOME but the lamb chops might be my new favorite.

GREAT food and service!!!! Bread rolls are delish, hot and comes with 3 different types of butter. I LOVE butter.. and when you get blue cheese butter, tomato butter, and butter which is slightly salted, you made my list of top restaurants. My bf and I shared 16 oz ribeye which was dry aged for 40 days or something ($52). Amy D and her bf spilt porterhouse ($45). We all split three sides; lobster mac and cheese (delectable good), asparagus (OK), and mashed potato (OK). All split a bottle of wine which was OK.. price was reasonable at $40. Overall, the meat was cooked inside to perfection, but it was a bit charred on the outside for me. All the other stuff; bread and sides were good, but the mac and cheese was the best. Would def. come again :D

Gorgeous dining room with the decor and the views. The staff is great - very friendly (but not in the cheesy way) and professional. While at the GC I'm happier than I am at any steakhouse in Chicago for those reasons. But after what must be 7,8, or 9 meals it's clear that the food just doesn't stand up to Chicago steakhouses from start to finish (but I'm always rooting for it!). To non-Chicagoans: this is in no way meant to be city-snobby. But they are trying to recreate a city steakhouse menu so that must be the standard against which to judge. They've got the right dishes, they've got Allen Brothers meat, they've got the prices, but the kitchen somehow falls short. Steakhouse staples like the wedge salad, creamed spinach, twice baked potato and most importantly, the steaks are all just decent. I/we will keep going back because it is a very nice dining experience. Just dial down your expectations if you are used to Chicago or NY steakhouse food.

I will preface this review by stating that I am not a huge fan of buffets. Something about the gluttony of it all disturbs me. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach, and the food never seems to live up to my expectations. I would give their buffet an actual 3 1/2 stars. Our friends made reservations for all of us to dine at the Geneva ChopHouse for their Sunday Champagne brunch. I had my hopes up high when I could see the chocolate fountain glistening through the window, the iced shrimp cocktail, crab legs and the carving table. My eyes got even bigger as we walked past the main dining area, there was so much to see and eat. I'm not sure if we were inappropriately dressed. The majority of the customers were wearing jackets, and I suppose our group had one too many tattoos exposed. Worse, we had a 1 and 4 year old in tow. They decided to seat us far away from the dining area in a private room away from all other patrons ; except for the couple wearing jeans. Our server was very sweet and friendly. After bringing us our drink orders and filling our glasses with champagne, we took turns filling our plates. My son of course veered to the dessert table. It was laden with mini tarts, parfaits, rice crispie treats, fruit, a choclate fountain, bars, cookies, and brownies. We chose bacon, sausage, Belgian waffles and fruit instead. I skipped the huge salad bar, the soup and the breads and went straight for the meat. The prime rib as excellent. Shrimp was disgusting. I couldn't even eat one. After dipping on in the cocktail sauce and sucking it dry, the texture and flavor left a lot to be desired. It smelt of a band aid. Because of the shrimp fiasco, i skipped the crab legs and all of their other seafood selections. Their Belgian waffles with bananas foster, eggs Benedict with orange Hollandaise sauce were by far my favorite. I don't eat a whole lot, so I did not taste everything that was available. my husband however, helped himself to 5 plates. He did not care for the crab legs, and skipped the shrimp. He did try a few of the other seafood selections and said that they were ok. The beef and breakfast selections were by far his favorite. And he is a fan of salad bars. Our friends also liked their prime rib and risotto. The view from the restaurant is spectacular. I would definitely recommend the Sunday brunch if you have a big appetite. Adults are $25.95 a person, Kids from 2-11 are $4.95, and kids under 2 are free.

I've been to the Chop House twice now and the first time I went last year was really an amazing experience. The food, service, drinks, dessert, all of it...top notch. Now, last night I went with a group of 16. We were seated late by 30 minutes, but comped some appetzers so good deal so far. Then we ordered our steaks and sides. At least half the orders were cooked wrong and the food took about 45 minutes to get...NOT GOOD. So, what should have been a nice $1200 tab for the restaurant, it turned into a half price special due to their big screw-up. The servers did a fine job, but the kitchen staff and the management left us all with a foul taste in our mouth. My final thought is the business is not prepared for larger parties....obviously.

We had a girl's weekend this weekend at the Grand Geneva resort. The whole resort was great and the concierge was very knowledgeable. We initially had reservations in downtown but decided to stay at the resort for dinner instead. By the time we decided to change to the Chop House the best we could do was a 9:30pm reservation (they are busy). We went down early to check for a table around 8:30 pm and they did not have a table so we enjoyed a martini in the bar. The hostess had advised us to check back at 9 and we did and they were able to offer us a booth which we gladly took. First of all, our service was AMAZING! Our waiter Eric was very knowledgeable and really gave us a 5 star dining experience. My mother in law ordered the garlic shrimp and it was amazing and my sister in law ordered the dry aged ribeye which she said was probably the best steak she has ever had (and she lives in Chicago where you can get some amazing food)! I ordered the prime rib and was unfortunately unimpressed. Though it was a tender good cut of meat it was bland and overcooked (I ordered medium rare and it was medium to medium well though my sister in law's steak was perfectly cooked). When Eric returned to our table and picked up my mostly full plate of prime rib and asked if I would like it wrapped up I told him no. He asked it everything was alright and I politely let him know why I did not care for it. When he came back with the bill he informed us that the prime rib had been taken off of our bill. We were happy with that and I did inform him that the service and quality of the other food (and the sides) were great and I would definitely return and just not order the prime rib. We did return to The Chop House the next morning for the brunch and the food was fantastic. The brunch service was very good as well (and they do not hesitate to fill your mimosa glass as many times as you would like). Overall I have to say, even with the unimpressive prime rib Eric really gave us the same service we would expect in a 5 star restaurant and with the other food being so good I would definitely say this restaurant is of high quality with excellent service and I will return, I just would not order the prime rib (and please note that a local restaurant where I live serves an exceptional prime rib so I am a little spoiled). I do highly recommend the brunch as well!

I guess I just had higher standards, but I just didn't feel that the chophouse was really excellent especially for Grand Geneva. The steak we had was decent and I did like how it was cooked, but the crab cakes were soggy and had more cake than anything else. The garlic butter mash potatoes were salty. The rolls and butters were nice especially the bleu cheese one, but really wasn't great. I can find much better steakhouses around Chicago for a much better price.

This is for a visit March of 2012 (sorry it took so long). Overall, a great experience. Gorgeous views out the floor-to-ceiling windows at the south side of the restaurant - was it like this when it was the Playboy Club? Great service as out waitress was attentive without being overbearing. Great steak - we did get a kick out of quote that all the steaks are brought up from Chicago - when we just came from Chicago (we didn't hold that against them). If you get the chance, definitely worth the try considering some of the Chicago steak titans are definitely slipping when it comes to service and overall experience. No, its not cheap but a high-end chophouse is not a place to have a sense of entitlement for a bargain. I also observed there that the better dressed tend to get better tables - I have no trouble with that as I enjoy putting on a jacket for a nice night out. The flip-flop/tattoo/t-shirt crowd may not appreciate this (see a few of these other reviews) but it works just fine with us. I would note that while I gave it 5 stars, I would not necessarily drive 60 minutes+ one way just for dinner but definitely would if in the area or staying at the Grand Geneva again.

My wife and I snuck away from the kids while we were at the Timber Ridge Water park for a very nice dinner here. I am very picky about my steakhouses and have eaten at some of the best all around the world. This place certainly holds its own against the Peter Luger's, Spark's and Primehouse. My wife and I both loved it.

We went here last weekend with a group of 8. Since we had reservations, we were seated immediately. Service was fantastic. We were offered bread. I asked for wheat and it was brought immediately. My husband asked for olive oil for the bread and it was also brought. Everyone at our table had steak. My sister-in-laws was terrible (i think they actually gave her an incorrect cut) but every one else's was great. We also had the side trio- you pick 3 sides. All were excellent. We didn't recognize the house wine but tried it based on the waitresses recommendation. It was excellent. Dinner is pricey and all food is ala carte, but we had a very good meal. Afterwards, we went out to the huge bonfire in the back and enjoyed another glass of wine while listening to live music. Would definitely go back here again for a special occasion.

Very pricy. The menu is completely a la carte, meaning you don't get any sides with anything. If you order a steak, that's all you get. All sides must be ordered separately and come in large enough portions that a table of 5 or 6 can easily share them. I got the creamed spinach which I thought was really good. The 3 fancy butters that came with the complimentary unlimited small crusty dinner rolls were alright - nothing fabulous but who doesn't like bread and butter. The filet mignon was delicious. My boyfriend got the dry aged steak and thought it was good also. Crab legs tasted more like fish than crab, but still good. Lobster was EXCELLENT. Very attentive waiter but then again we did not arrive until 8:45 pm. I was worried about bringing my 12 and 13 year old daughters into such an upper crusty place (Grand Geneva was once one of Hugh Hefner's Playboy clubs), but noticed there were other kids there too. I mentioned I had a 12 year old when we arrived for our reservations, wondering if they had any less pricy children's offerings, and the host replied "we do not discriminate when it comes to age" haha. This is where Lake Geneva has its 4th of July fireworks show which was spectacular along the back of the resort right along the golf course and water. A wonderful place to be.

My boyfriend and I are on our first vacation together and decided on a romantic dinner for the first night. This place can be either casual or more dressy so since we never get the chance to dress up with our busy and exhausting schedules, we showed up in style. We didn't feel out of place at all. There were families with their children as this resort is a family-oriented place but we experienced no disruptions in our experience. We were seated in a great corner spot on the terrace. Service was perfect and so was the food, for the most part. They put out bread with some poignant-flavored spreads that I honestly can't describe, but I know that I didn't particularly care for any of them except for one that had a garlicky flavor to it which was OK. I ordered the Caprese salad which was served with tomatoes that were either white or not ripe whatsoever and bitter-tasting so that kind of ruined it, but the mozzarella and flavoring otherwise was delicious. I also ordered the trio of sides which included marinated asparagus and creamed spinach, both delicious. My wonderful other half got the steak and it was cooked to perfection, wonderfully rare and melted in our mouths. Drinks were on point and the view was beautiful even though the sun had already set. The fountains out in the lake light up after the sun has gone down. It gets pretty chilly at night in Wisconsin even in the summer but they have heat lamps on the terrace which is a nice touch. The bonfire pit steps below the terrace was going but we didn't stay after dinner. We went to this bar that is next door to the left of the restaurant which is a small lounge-type place. The music was top 40 from 5+ years ago or so. Overall, great experience. I would definitely go back and would also recommend. The servers and staff were very friendly and accommodating.

It was a great time! Romantic yet kid friendly, waitress was okay, nothing out of the ordinary. She had good recommendations for some things but seemed to ster me away from the dishes that might have taken longer like the veal chop which I am so glad I got! Best veal chop ever! And she tried to deter me from it saying 'it takes awhile'. And that wasn't the only thing. We wanted a good app which were the scallops and yet again she needed to point out the time. I'm here for a nice, upscale romantic dinner- it should take awhile and it SHOULD be delicious. I'm glad we chose what we did. Bone-in dry-aged strip steak was he other entree and was also delicious but my veal shop was different but much better ;) lobster Mac and cheese was yummy, and creamed spinach was a bit watery but still good. Dessert was okay, not a specialty of theirs, but you can never go wrong with cremè brûlée. Even moreover, we went the next morning for their breakfast buffet and it was amazing! CHAMPAGNE brunch- Prime rib, made to order omelette, an array of salads, lunch items, and of the chocolate fondue station was very cool (although not as tasty as it looks). Overall we had a great time both times we went to the chophouse. Service was so-so but the food makes up for it. Will return next time in Lake Geneva!

First of all I would like to say that the staff here is top notch!! They are so friendly and willing to help you! As for the food, we were here in town for the weekend and thought we would try out the Sunday I Brunch...the food was better than I thought it would be. There were some items that were luke warm but still excellent! They have all these separate stations that handle the different types of entrees. I would definitely come back.

Food was great, service was just ok. We had a booth and it was a little cramped with 4 of us. Nice view and after dinner the patio and fire was perfect for an after dinner drink! I would go back.

We stayed at the resort over Memorial Day weekend. 4 of us got dinner together Sunday night. Very disappointing. All around poor and slow service and food that simply wasn't fresh. Everything was extremely slow. The salads and appetizers came an hour after we were sat, and the mains and sides came about 20 minutes later. Others around us, sat after us, got their food and paid their bills before we received our main courses. To start my wife and I ordered a Ceasar Salad to split. The lettuce was about 5 days older than it should have been. Neither of us finished this dish which is usually impossible to screw up. We also ordered 3 sides for the table. On the menu, it states that if you get three sides, it is the "trio", and is a lower overall price. Nowhere on the menu does it mention that the "trio" is half the amount of the standard sides. I asked the waitress about this after the food had arrived and she explained it all to me, saying they recommend a trio be split by two people. One side we got was asparagus. It tasted like asparagus in November from a mediocre restaurant. Not expensive asparagus from a high end midwestern steakhouse in late May. How do you not serve great asparagus in late May? We ordered a 24 oz porterhouse to split, cooked medium (wife's preference). I specifically told the waitress that I would cut it up myself. The steak was somewhere between rare and medium rare. It was also cut up and put on two separate plates, contrary to what I asked. My plate had a large pool of blood on it, which likely means they didn't give it enough time to rest. It was otherwise pretty good, but main courses are not enjoyable when you are annoyed at repeated previous failures of service and food quality.

I've been here before, and this past weekend I was up for a golf outing. After a long day of golf and drinks, boy were we hungry!! Friday night we went for a good meal, we were craving a good steak! The staff was very nice, the food was very good. However with all good things, you must point out the negatives: 1) you only are allowed 1 or 2 rolls of pre dinner bread being passed out by the server. I asked if he could just leave the basket on the table he goes "no we can't do that sir". Luckily he came back, but still why can't you leave the bread there for us to eat?? 2) I'm not a wine guy, I will drink it with my dinner when needed. to me the wine was pricey ($14.00 per glass) and $50.00 for a bottle. We had 4 guys, so we just went with the bottle 3) We ordered the "Trio" of sides. We chose mashed potatoes, corn and spinich. Boy was that side dish SMALL!!! 4) I ordered the $40 8oz filet. Good piece of meat, but that's all you get on your plate.....well they toss about 5 mushrooms on the side. yuck. Overall, the food is very good, just some of the prices and the portions, took a star off my rating. I did however receive a FREE cheesecake for dessert, being it was my birthday!

Solid steakhouse. Following the same pattern as others with the ginormous side dishes that you can share. Have a nice trio of sides option, but it is meant for no more than 2 people. Service was quite good and food arrived in a timely manner. Enjoyed the opportunity to eat outdoors under the heaters. Would return if I were in the area and craving a steak.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa and the Chophouse was a great addition to our wonderful experience! Our server was very helpful in helping us select a bottle of wine for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they carried my favorite Sauvignon Blanc Kim Crawford! Our steaks were great and they also gave me a rose at dinner along with an adorable (and delicious) cheesecake with Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the plate. Not a huge celebrator of my own birthday but they certainly made this one special :)

Three stars it is. First, let's discuss service. Our waitress was off her game in the following two ways. #1 - When a customer asks what are house specialties, don't tell me what u like, tell me what consensus is from customers, and the house. Your view counts, but it doesn't override others. #2 - Then, when I say I want a glass of red with my entree, don't bring it exactly when entree arrives, bring it before it arrives to enjoy before and during entree. Especially when my former glass is empty for 20 minutes. Is this not food service 101? Now the food. The Veal chop was excellent. Our server recommended it. Good choice. However, my wife's garlic Shrimp was just okay. Overall, I liked the place, but our server argued with me about the wine. Bad form.

The food and service was good, but when I pay $48 for a steak, I want "pre-orgasmic", or at least "great". Not worth the money in my opinion. If the prices were cut in half - if could be a 4 or 5 star restaurant.
